1.      How does RESCUE fix dog urine burns? 

RESCUE works in three different ways.

First, it gives the yellow patch an instant green colour, helping disguise the unsightly yellow patch.

Second, it helps rejuvenate leaf growth in the damaged patch. If the patch is yellow but still has some green leaf remaining, those leaves can absorb RESCUE and begin the recovery process.

Third, once RESCUE has dried on the leaf, you water it into the root zone. This is an important step, as it moves RESCUE down to help protect the roots from dying off.

For best results, apply RESCUE as soon as you see the yellow patch, while there is still some green leaf remaining within the damaged area.

 

2. How do I use RESCUE?

A simple routine is to walk over your lawn each day, look for any new yellow patches and treat them as they appear.

SPRAY → DRY → SOAK WITH WATER

Spray the yellow patch generously with RESCUE, making sure the whole affected area is completely covered and applying enough product to reach run-off.

Allow it to dry on the leaf, then hand-water the treated area thoroughly — give it a good soak.

Important: The hand-watering step is a must. It is sometimes missed, but it is essential because it washes the product down into the root zone where it needs to work.

When mixing RESCUE with water in your spray bottle, do this on the lawn, as the green colour pigment can stain porous surfaces.

3. When is the best time to spray RESCUE?

A dog can pee anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day, so the best results come from treating urine damage early.

Usually, a urine patch will start to yellow and show signs of burn around 2 to 5 days after your dog has peed.

The best time to apply RESCUE is as soon as you notice the yellowing, while there is still some green grass within the patch.

 

4. How often do I need to spray RESCUE?

In most cases, you should only need to spray the yellow patch once.

The most important part is what happens after spraying: make sure you hand-water RESCUE into the root zone, then continue watering the treated area every 48 hours as directed.

If needed, you can apply a second application after 7 days.

Applying more product isn’t necessary — but it is adding more nutrients and support to the affected area.

 

5. How long does it take to see results from RESCUE?

This can depend on the overall health of your lawn.

If your lawn is healthy and on a good fertilising program, with strong nutrition from both liquid and granular fertilisers, you can see recovery around 7 to 14 days.

If the lawn is not in good health or isn’t being regularly fed, recovery can take longer — around 21 to 28 days.

The healthier the lawn, the quicker it will recover!

 

6. How do I get the best results from RESCUE?

7. Do I need to follow my dog around & spray Rescue straight away?

No. You don’t need to follow your dog around. Simply check your lawn regularly and wait until you see a new yellow patch starting to appear. This is usually when RESCUE should be applied, while there is still some green grass remaining in the patch.

Once you spot yellow patch:

SPRAY → DRY → SOAK WITH WATER

 

8. What happens if I don't water RESCUE in?

The watering step moves RESCUE down into the root zone. If this step is missed, the roots will continue to burn, eventually die, and the whole grass plant will die with them.

If you don’t water RESCUE in, it won’t work. Without enough water, RESCUE stays on the leaf and above the soil surface instead of getting down to the roots.

 

9. How do I know where to water after applying?

Easy- the green colour pigment in RESCUE shows you exactly where you sprayed. 

Once RESCUE has dried on the leaf, you can use that green colour as your marker, so you know which area needs to be hand-watered thoroughly.

 

10. Is RESCUE just a Fertiliser?

No. RESCUE is not just a fertiliser.

It is a specialised blend of ingredients developed by Dave at My Lawn Co specifically for dog urine burn, using his experience as a professional greenkeeper.

11. Does RESCUE fix old dog urine damage?

RESCUE is for NEW dog wee damage. 

If the patch is already completely brown, bare or dead, RESCUE won’t regrow dead grass.

It can still help support the healthy grass around the damaged area, grow over but for best results RESCUE should be used early, while there is still living green grass in the urine-burn patch.

You will need to replace the dead grass or bare patch with the same lawn species, either by patching with new turf, plugging or sprigging into the damaged spot.

 

12. My dog has destroyed my lawn and I've got dead spots everywhere- what can i do?

If you have dead spots throughout the lawn, the dead areas need to be re-turfed first with the same grass variety.

Once repaired, the focus is on building a healthy lawn and improving the soil environment. Apply a slow-release granular fertiliser such as GROW, followed by VITAL Wetting Agent mixed with ENRICH Kelp to support the soil and encourage strong roots. Give the area a good deep water for around 45 minutes. Rather than hand-watering, use a oscillating sprinkler so the area is watered evenly. Water the lawn every 3 days.

From there, GROW (every 3 months) and regular liquid feeding with THRIVE and REVIVE (every 2 to 4 wks) will help maintain good nutrition, colour and overall lawn health.

Most importantly, use RESCUE as soon as new yellow urine-burn patches appear to help stop those spots from becoming the next dead patches. Be consistent and treat new burns early with RESCUE.

 

13. Does RESCUE work in winter?

Yes, RESCUE works very well in winter and can be used 12 months of the year, regardless of the temperature.

RESCUE continues to support the grass as it repairs and recovers in urine-burn patches, even through the colder months.

It’s important to keep using RESCUE in winter because lawns are slower growing in cooler weather, so untreated urine burns can build up very quickly. With a dog potentially creating several new urine spots each day, the damage can become widespread and leave your lawn on the back foot heading into the warmer months.

14. Can i use RESCUE in the rain?

Yes, you can use RESCUE when it’s raining.

Rain may wash off the green pigment, but the pigment is only there for appearance. It will not stop RESCUE from working. The active ingredients in RESCUE will still work effectively and continue doing their job.

If the green colour washes off, you can reapply RESCUE once the lawn is dry if you want the colour back.

The important part is making sure RESCUE gets enough water to move it down into the root zone. If you get good, soaking rain after application, that can do the watering-in for you. If it’s only light rain, give the treated area an extra soak with water.

 

15. Is RESCUE safe around kids and pets?

Yes. RESCUE is safe around kids and pets once it has dried on the leaf.

Keep children and pets off the treated area while you are spraying and while the product is still wet, then allow them back onto the lawn once it is dry.

16. Is RESCUE suitable for all grass types?

Yes, RESCUE is suitable for all grass types.

 

17. How does RESCUE work on new turf?

When turf is cut at the farm, a turf cutter takes the top layer of grass off, leaving it with no root system.

Once the turf is laid, it needs time to establish a strong root system.

A newly laid lawn can look amazing at first, but without the right feeding it can quickly start to struggle. Add a dog into the mix and that beautiful green new turf can become stressed very quickly. One step that is often missed is applying a quality turf starter granular fertiliser such as GROW to help support root development.

RESCUE is safe to use on newly laid turf but it won’t be effective in the same way until the turf has established a root system.

RESCUE is designed to support the leaf and importantly, the root zone. New turf has no established roots yet, so there is very little root system for RESCUE to protect.

As the roots begin to develop and establish, this is when RESCUE is the most effective because it can then support the plant through the root zone as intended.

The key with new turf is to give it every chance to establish strong roots. Where possible, keep dogs off newly laid turf for minimum of 3 weeks in warmer months, and longer in winter, to give the lawn the best chance to establish properly.

If you can’t keep your dog off the whole lawn, consider laying the new turf in stages. Block off one section from your dog while the roots establish, then once that section is strong and established, move on to the next area.

Once the roots are established and your dog is back on the lawn, use RESCUE consistently whenever new yellow urine-burn patches appear, and keep the lawn supported with regular liquid fertiliser feeds such as THRIVE and REVIVE to maintain good overall lawn health.
